PLP Challenges Three Seats:
By Vanessa C. Rolle -
Nassau, Bahamas:
Progressive Liberal Party candidates are set to challenge three seats in Election Court after leave was granted for the Blue Hills constituency on Monday.
Attorneys Wayne Munroe and Philip "Brave" Davis, who are representing PLP candidates in this matter, both made this confirmation to The Bahama Journal on Monday.
Mr. Davis also confirmed that the PLP is moving ahead with cases challenging the results of Marco City and Pinewood.
After the results of the General Election came in on May 2, the party was also set to challenge Sea Breeze, which was won by 64 votes, and Golden Isles, which was won by 62 votes.
But in the end, the party decided to pursue just three seats.
The FNM won both Blue Hills and Pinewood by 47 votes over the PLP candidates.
On Friday, leave to file petitions was granted for Pinewood and Marco City.
Mr. Munroe explained the cases really involve the candidates and not the party itself.
He plans to argue that there were some persons who voted in the last General Election who were not Bahamian citizens.
In a separate matter, it remains unclear when the PLP plans to file as its legal challenge to Senate appointments.
The party has argued that it ought to be entitled to seven of the 16 seats in the Senate because the constitution requires that the Senate reflects the political balance in the House.
