Reflections of Fidel
AS I was completing some reflections on the removal from office of Colombian Senator Piedad Córdoba, improbable news concerning Ecuador began to come in. I have spent hours listening to the reports. As the minutes go by, the situation is growing more volatile.
At 5:12 p.m. Cuba time, condemnation of the coup is multiplying. The most eminent Latin American leaders, such as Chávez and Evo, are making their energetic denunciations heard. The OAS is meeting with no alternative. Its members are indignant and even Chinchilla is protesting: the new president of Colombia has also said that he supports Correa.
President Rafael Correa is determined and unyielding. The people are much more organized. In my opinion, the coup is already lost.
Even Obama and Clinton will have no alternative but to condemn it.
